Milan to use Brazilian as bait for Nakata

Reports emanating from Japan indicate Milan are ready to offer Rivaldo in an exchange deal for Parma's Hidetoshi Nakata whe the transfer window reopens in January.

Although both Nakata and Rivaldo have insisted they are content to stay at their respective clubs, their long-term futures are still unknown, especially with Nakata continually being played out of position by Parma coach Cesare Prandelli, and Rivaldo seeing little playing time at Milan.

World Cup winner Rivaldo left Carlo Ancelotti's side last week, only to rejoin the European champions over the weekend, although he is expected to leave when the transfer window opens in January and Milan could use the ex-Barcelona star as bait to lure Nakata.

The reigning European champions tried to lure Nakata to Giuseppe Meazza during the summer, but the club could not come to an agreement with Parma over the Japanese international's transfer fee.

The proposed deal could suit Parma well, as Rivaldo's arrival would help fill the void left by the departure of Romanian hit man Adrian Mutu, who joined Chelsea in the summer.
