PSG wanted Marlet

PARIS SAINT GERMAIN coach Vahid Halilhodzic has revealed he tried to sign Fulham striker Steve Marlet before he opted to join Marseille.

Marlet joined Marseille on a season-long loan last month after dropping out-of-favour at Fulham.

Halihodiz viewed Marlet as an ideal partner for Portuguese star Pauleta in the PSG side and was disappointed to miss out on the French international.

"I wanted to hire Marlet, because he is complementary with Pedro (Pauleta) with his runs and good passes," Halilhodzic told L'Equipe.

After missing out on Marlet, Halihodzic believes that summer signing from Red Star Belgrade Branko Boskovic could be the ideal partner of Pauleta in attack.

"He has good qualities in the air, because he has a great spring," added Halihofzic.

"He is left-footed and has a technique good enough to eliminate the opponent and provide the ball."
