Celtic on top after Ibrox win
Celtic eased their way to the top of the Scottish Premier League with a solitary strike from John Hartson a minute into the second half giving them a 1-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox.
Celtic almost broke the deadlock after 10 minutes when Craig Moore made the mistake of being casual with the ball around Henrik Larsson. The Swede robbed him of the ball with almost embarrassing ease and his centre found Alan Thompson, but the former Bolton ace under-hit his shot and Stefan Klos got across to block.
The visitors came close again seven minutes later when Stillian Petrov hammered a dipping 30 yard drive narrowly over the bar after Larsson and Liam Miller had battled to win the ball for Celtic.
Rangers hit back a minute later with a move engineered by Emerson, who then took a lay-off from Michael Mols and hit a fierce drive that was deflected over the bar by Chris Sutton.
Klos then produced a first-class save to deny Hartson four minutes before the break when he dived at full-stretch to stop the striker's shot after Petrov had cut the ball back for the big Welshman.
60 seconds later it took a deflection from Jackie McNamara to deny Emerson again - this time his shot spun agonisingly close.
Hartson put The Bhoys ahead within a minute of the break when he took a superb return from Larsson after winning an aerial challenge, and his chip hit the underside of the bar on its way in to the net - albeit via a massive deflection from Zurab Khizanishvili.
Celtic had two good chances to add to their lead, Larsson was denied by Klos and Henning Berg after Petrov had left Michael Ball standing to drill in a low cross.
Klos then stood his ground to deny Petrov 13 minutes from time. And apart from a mix-up between Stanislav Varga and Magnus Hedman two minutes from time, Rangers never looked like scoring.
Third-placed Hearts fought back from two goals down to grab a point at Tynecastle
Spanish striker Nacho Novo opened the scoring for Dundee in the 16th with Gavin Rae adding the second after 62.
Substitute Graham Weir reduced the arrears on the 73rd minute with Steven Pressley completing the comeback on 81.
Aberdeen secured their first away win of the season at Kilmarnock, winning by 3-1.
The Dons took an early lead through David Zdrilic in the third minute, with Steve Tosh adding a second after 15.
Scott Booth completed a fine afternoon for the Dons with a third on the 47th minute. Killie pulled a goal back through Colin Nish (67).
Two Derek Adams goals were enough for Motherwell as they beat Dundee United at Tannadice.
Adams converted a penalty in the 22nd minute and added a second in injury time.
Livingston and Dunfermline fought out a goalless draw at the West Lothian Courier Stadium.
A last gasp winner from Grant Brebner gave Hibernian all three points against Partick Thistle at the Firhill Stadium.
The defeat leaves Thistle bottom and still seeking their first win of the season
