Sunderland ready to let Reddy go
The striker has failed to command a regular place in the club's reserves this season and the player has been informed that he is not part of Mick McCarthy's plans.
Reddy has spent much of the last two seasons out on loan and has had temporary spells with Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Swindon, Hull and York City.
The recent arrival of Tommy Smith has pushed the Irishman even further down the pecking order and well out of the first team picture.
"It's a massive disappointment to me because I love Sunderland and I don't really feel that I ever got the chance to prove I could do it in the first team," stated Reddy to the Sunderland Echo.
"But that is the way football goes and I just have to accept it and get on with it."
McCarthy admitted that the decision to let the striker go was made as part of his squad rebuilding plans.
"We are trying to freshen the squad up, bring in new faces when we can and part of that involves letting others go," explained the Black Cats boss.
"When I arrived here it was obvious that there were some players who had been here a long time without being involved in the first team and for some of them it is best to seek opportunities elsewhere."
