Juninho named in Brazil squad

JUNINHO has earned a recall to the Brazilian national side, despite being dropped from the Middlesbrough team.

The diminutive star will be buoyed to find himself called up for the game against Jamaica, alongside the likes of Milan's Rivaldo, Real Madrid's Ronaldo and Barcelona's Ronaldinho.

Carlos Alberto Parreira has named a strong squad for the game - which is preparation the World Cup qualification games against Peru and Uruguay.

One new face is Lyon's Juninho Pernambucano, who was overjoyed at his inclusion.

"I am going through an excellent phase and I am very happy with my call-up," said Pernambucano.

Rivaldo has been hitting the headlines for very different reasons, but after leaving, then rejoining, Milan, the former Barcelona man will return to the international fold.

"We talked on the telephone," said Parreira.

"I asked if he wanted to continue to play for Brazil and he said he would be interested in playing against Jamaica.

"I think his decision to return to Milan was the best decision for everyone."
