Minambres undergoes surgery

Real Madrid defender Oscar Minambres has undergone surgery on his foot injury and will be out of action for between six and eight weeks.

The Real youth product picked up the stress fracture in his foot during the club's pre-season tour of Asia, and has yet to appear for Los Merengues this term.

Real club doctor Alfonso del Corral claimed that the operation had been a complete success, and revealed the player would leave hospital on Wednesday night.

"Minambres has been operated on for a stress fracture in the hollow of the fifth metatarsal of his left foot that he sustained during the tour of Asia," stated del Corral.

"We have tried to consolidate it, during the previous light recovery schedule of rest, relaxation and a little physio work it was okay, but, when he returned to playing, the pains were even worse.

"We hope that he will go home tonight (Wednesday) and that there will be no complications.

"He will be out for between six to eight weeks."
