Mancini not surprised by start
Emanuele Mancini says he is not surprised by his performances for Serie A side Roma.
The young Brazilian, real name Alejandro Faiolhoe Amantino, has helped the side from the capital surge to third in the league, despite only featuring mainly as a substitute for loan side Venecia last term.
The South American told Red Bandeirantes: "I always trusted my ability and potential.
"I know that nobody here in Roma knew me, even the journalists, but I was very calm.
"Nobody could really know about my skills because in Venecia I didn't play as much.
"Even the coach Fabio Capello didn't know me very much but I am not surprised because I know what I can do on a football pitch."
The Giallorossi have high hopes for the player and see him as the natural successor to compatriot and Stadio Olimpico legend Cafu, who joined Milan in the summer.
Mancini revealed that Cafu handed down some pearls of wisdom to him.
"He told me that if I continue in this way I will be a very important player in the future," he added.
The starlet did confess though that he was in the dark as to why he was hardly used whilst on loan at Venecia last term.
He said: "I don't want revenge on anyone. I am not proud and I don't have any anger in me.
"But I really don't know why I didn't have the chance to play for Venecia.
"I never had an explanation from the coach and I am a player that doesn't like to ask why I play and why I don't."
