Mallorca dealt Franco blow

By Francisco Acedo
Mallorca have been dealt a major blow with the news that first choice goalkeeper Leo Franco has been ruled out of action for around a month.

The Argentine custodian sprained his left knee during a training session, and will be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks, club doctors have confirmed.

Franco did not play in his side's Copa del Rey victory over Sabadell on Wednesday, and was replaced between the sticks by youth team product Miguel Garro 'Miki'.

The 26-year-old becomes the third Mallorca player to sustain a serious injury in recent times, following knocks to defenders Hipolito Fernandez 'Poli' and Federico Lussenhoff.

Like Franco, both Poli and Lussenhoff are expected to be out for around three to four weeks.
