Lipa sorry for racist remark
In a press statement released by Lipa's club, Port Vale, it was announced that the 32-year-old international had sent a written apology to the Canadian international and been fined a week's wages.
That money will instead be split between the anti-racism charity 'Kick it Out!' and Plymouth's own campaign, 'Argyle Against Racism'.
"Andreas himself has written to Jason expressing his profound regret for the comment he made during Saturday's match, said in the heat of the moment and regretted immediately afterwards," a Port Vale spokesman said.
"Port Vale abhors racism of any sort and, since the new owners took over, have worked extremely hard via our Community Programme to include all ethnic minorities in the area in the Vale 'family'."
Lipa, whose wife is from the West Midlands, joined the Potteries club during the summer from Greek side Skoda Xanthi.
Unbelievably, his comments to Bent came during The Football League's Anti-Racism Week of Action and before the game local children had protested against racism on the pitch.
"Andreas has said to the club that he wished he could turn the clock back as he is in no way racist and totally supports the major drive within football to drive out racial abuse," the club insisted.
"As stated above, he has sent a written apology to Jason Bent. Jason himself has confirmed that, he accepts the apology and does not wish to take the matter any further."
