Watford determined to keep Ifil

Watford boss Ray Lewington is adamant he will not be forced to sell Jerel Ifil to Swindon Town.

The young defender impressed in a loan spell at the County Ground last season and Swidon manager Andy King is keen to sign him on a permanent basis.

The Hornets chief had to watch on as the club's board sold Paul Robinson to rivals West Brom for £400,000 to help ease the financial problems at Vicarge Road.

"We won't have to sell Jerel," stated Lewington. "We are not in a situation where the chairman has told me we have got to accept bids for anyone.

"The fee for Robinson was a decent amount but if it was on a lower scale."
