Rovers to pounce for Shrimps star

Doncaster Rovers look set to sign Morecambe midfielder Adriano Rigoglioso after the two clubs agreed a fee for the player.

The 24-year-old was transfer listed by the North West club after a falling out with the club's management.

Rovers have now agreed an undisclosed fee and are expected to complete his capture in the next few days.

Rigoglioso began his career with Liverpool in the same youth team as Michael Owen, but he failed to make the grade at Anfield and moved to Marine, before joining Morecambe.

Meanwhile, manager Dave Penney has dismissed reports suggesting the club had agreed a deal with Sunderland for on-loan striker Chris Brown.

The 19-year-old has bagged four goals in six appearances since moving to Belle Vue and has been very impressive for Rovers, however, Penney says nothing has been agreed.

"There are rumours we have tried to sign Chris Brown and made an offer but we can assure you that we have not even thought that far," he said.

"We don't believe that Sunderland are even interested in selling such a young up and coming player.

"They have sent him here for experience, so that when he goes back he is a better all-round player."
