Galasek signs new Ajax deal
The 30-year-old Czech has become an integral figure for coach Ronald Koeman, having arrived at the Amsterdam ArenA in the summer of 2000 from Willem II.
Koeman's predecessor at Ajax, Co Adriaanse was not a fan of Galasek's but the former Dutch international's arrival at the helm from Vitesse Arnhem heralded a turnaround in the midfielder's fortunes.
Ajax coach Koeman is looking to extend the deals of his key players and he has handed Galasek an extra year to his commitment to the Amsterdam giants.
Galasek was delighted to pen the deal and revealed he is looking to see out his career with Ajax.
"I am completely happy," Galasek told the club's website. "I am happy here, as are my family, and I am looking to conclude my career here."
Ajax's new technical director Louis van Gaal was pleased to conclude the formalities of the new contract.
"I am happy we are extending Tomas' contract," said van Gaal. "He is a footballer who improves the play of others; that is an important quality."
