Cobanoglu: Turks victims of racism
Following last Sunday's match between Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers, Cobanoglu has claimed that Alpay Ozalan was not the only Turkish player to be vilified by English supporters.
According to Cobanoglu the abuse, which he believes is racist, continues despite Alpay's exit from Aston Villa and is being targeted at players such as Blackburn's Tugay and Leicester's Muzzy Izzet.
"I am calling on the English FA to do its duty (and stamp out racism)," Cobanoglu said.
"I want to remind the English that football is just a game and I want to remind those English with common sense to remember the rules of fair play.
"It's our players now but later it might be players from other nations. Let's end this enmity."
Cobanoglu had harsh words to say about Sunday's game and revealed that in a conversation afterwards, Tugay had confirmed to him that the abuse he received was as severe as it had appeared.
"I was shocked when I saw the game on television, then I spoke to Tugay, who was very upset," Cobanoglu said. "Racism isn't just something directed against black people.
"It appears that the campaign Uefa launched against racism in football has yet to reach English shores."
A spokesman for Leicester City however denied Cobanoglu's accusations and insisted that no formal complaint had been received.
"We have had no official complaint from Tugay or the Turkish FA," said the spokesman. "The player was on the pitch only for a few minutes and we are not aware of any racist abuse."
