Elber in shock after Bayern winner

Lyon match-winner Giovane Elber was in a state of shock after netting the winning goal for his new side against old boys Bayern Munich.

The Brazilian striker struck a second half goal to condemn Bayern to a shock 2-1 defeat at the Olympic Stadium and admitted he was surprised by the outcome.

"This is crazy. I had not scored for Lyon in the Champions League and now I have done it against Bayern," said Elber.

"It's a strange feeling, to come back after playing for Bayern for six years. I had the impression I was in the wrong dressing room."

Elber aimed a swipe at Bayern's performance, but still hopes they can make the next phase of the UEFA Champions League.

"We knew that it would be tough and that we would have to make the most of the few chances we had. That's exactly what we did," added Elber.

"Bayern showed too little initiative. You have to do more than that to win a game. You have to put more pressure and take more risks than they did, especially when you're playing at home.

"Still, I hope they will not be eliminated in the group stage."

Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld revealed he had no regrets about selling Elber and that he held no hard feelings towards the South American.

"We sold him and that's that, but it's not really about Elber alone being the opponent," said Hitzfeld.

"It wasn't just that we were 2-1 down, but that it was Elber. It just took our legs away from us."
