Dortmund fury with Amoroso

By Thomas Zeh
Borussia Dortmund have finally lost patience with Marcio Amoroso, who they allowed to return to Brazil in order to recover from a ligament problem, and finally told the striker that he has to return to Germany for further medical examinations.

The player has sent shockwaves through Dortmund by claiming that he is considering undergoing surgery as he believes his cruciate ligaments are affected by the injury.

"Here in Brazil my doctor Paulo Peis told me that I might need an operation and would be out for six to eight months," declared the 29-year-old.

The forward proved to be an instant hit and fired Dortmund to the Bundesliga title in 2002 when he also won the German Golden Boot, but his relationship with disciplinarian coach Matthias Sammer has been plagued by numerous scandals ever since, sparking rumours that Amoroso is keen to leave the club before the end of his contract in 2005.
