Elano replaces Ronaldinho
The former Paris Saint Germain star was called up for the games with Peru and Uruguay, but the CBF want to confirm his injury even though the Barca doctors have already compiled a medical report.
Ronaldinho is expected to be out for somewhere between four and six weeks after suffering a thigh injury during the clash with Real Betis. He will travel with Barca vice-president Sandro Rosell to Brazil.
Once the problem has been verified by the CBF, the skilful striker is expected to return to Catalunya to continue his recovery.
He could miss the eagerly-anticipated clash with Real Madrid on December 6, and the local derby with Espanyol.
Meanwhile, Elano has been called up to replace Ronaldinho in the squad after careful deliberation by coach Carlos Alberto Parreira.
The Santos midfielder was introduced to the national party for the first two games of the South American qualifiers to replace Manchester United's Kleberson.
"I received a phone call in the morning from Americo Faria saying that I had to present myself to the national team, but for the major one because I have to replace Ronaldinho," he explained, after originally being in the Under-23 squad.
"I am really happy for having a new chance for the full team.
"I was already very happy with playing for the Under-23 national team but now I am much happier because I will be with the major team.
"I am very sorry for what happened to Ronaldinho.
"I have had the chance to know him and he is a very good person and also a very good player.
"I hope that he recovers very soon."
