Knee op success for de Boer

Rangers playmaker Ronald de Boer will likely return to the Ibrox club's line-up in the New Year following successful surgery on his injured knee.

The 33-year-old Dutchman has made just five appearances for the Old Firm giants this term after a superb campaign last season.

De Boer has had a number of exploratory probes on his troublesome knee but Wednesday's operation in Holland was deemed a success, as a piece of floating bone was removed from the outside of his knee joint.

A club statement on Rangers' official website read: "According to the surgeon, everything went to plan and now de Boer faces six weeks of rehabilitation after which he should be in a position to return to the action."

Meanwhile, a Scottish Premier League tribunal is set to meet at Hampden Park on Friday to decided how much in compensation Dundee will receive for the transfer of Georgian international Zura Khizanishvili.

The defender moved to Ibrox after his contract with The Dark Blues expired in the summer but as he was under 23 years of age, the Tayside outfit are entitled to compensation for the player.
