Simeone admits Lazio dream
Diego Simeone has signalled his intent to return to Lazio after his retirement, and take over as coach of the club.
The Argentine star, who now plays for Atletico Madrid, has fond memories of his time with Lazio, and would like to take charge when he has hung up his boots.
"My dream has remained the same," confessed Simeone.
"I want to become Lazio coach one day in the future when I have ended my career.
"I still feel 10o percent like a footballer, but I do dream of becoming Lazio coach one day."
The 33-year-old has been pushed back into an unfamiliar centre-back role at Atletico - but is enjoying his football.
"The coach Gregorio Manzano has decided to put me in the centre of the defence and I can't complain because the team has won the last four games," he continued.
"I have already played in that position when I was at Inter so I have a little experience of it.
"I would say it is harder to play as a defender in Spain - in Italy the defences have more protection from their midfielders.
"I left Lazio because I felt it was time for a change.
"I think that in life it is best to leave a place on your own decision rather than be forced out."
