Rijkaard leaves door open for Kluivert
The Dutch international striker has been in and out of the Barca first team this campaign, and had hinted he would look for a move away from the Catalan outfit after becoming the target for abuse from some sections of the team's fans.
Although Kluivert has since returned to Rijkaard's starting XI, reports of a possible switch to Newcastle persist, though his coach admits that such a transfer would depend largely on the player himself.
"If in December he wants to leave it will depend on him," declared Rijkaard.
"We do not have many forwards but if he wants to go he will have to talk to the board.
"He told me that he wanted to fight for his place and become a regular again.
"That to me demonstrates a desire. He is working very well."
Rijkaard also had words of praise for another high-profile frontman, this time Real Madrid's Raul who he backed to win the European Footballer of the Year award.
"I believe Raul always gives great performances. I would give it to him," Rijkaard continued.
"Maldini could also receive it for his entire sporting career, but I would give it to Raul before him."
