Cisse attracted by Senegal
Edouard Cisse has admitted that he would be tempted to play for Senegal if they requested his services.
The midfielder has impressed for Monaco this term and is being tipped for a call up from Senegal following the change in Fifa's rules which allow players to change countries if they have not yet attained full international honours.
Cisse knows he has little chance of pulling on the blue shirt of France, which has prompted him to consider representing the country of his father.
"When I read the papers about the new rule, it titillated me," he told L'Equipe.
"A lot of people told me: 'You are Senegalese, you should go'. So I told myself why not?
"Inside of me I have a part of African culture from my father. Even if I have always dreamt of Les Bleus, the competition is enormous.
"To participate in a great competition with Senegal would be wonderful. But considering the defensive midfielders of this team, I know I would not be certain to play.
"If they call me, it would give me a choice to make. It would change a lot of things, notably with Monaco. We will see, I won't rush.
"As I haven't talked to the selector yet, it is difficult to tell you more."
Senegalese coach Guy Stephan has admitted Cisse is one of a number of players he is considering.
"I am interested in Edouard Cisse. The most important thing to consider is the motivation of the players and the ability.
"Edouard is a quality player. I haven't had time to call him yet. There are also Patrice Evra, Bernard Mendy and Lamine Sakho.
"According to the Senegalese media, Sakho could be interested."
