Inter agree Peralta deal
Nerazzurri technical director Marco Branca even suggested that the Uruguayan could link up at Giuseppe Meazza with his new team-mates in the New Year if negotiations progress as planned.
"We will see if he will arrive in January or June," former Inter star Branca told Corriere dello Sport.
Reports in Italy suggest Inter will sign Peralta for $3 million (£1.7 million) on a five-year contract but the player says he wants to bow out of the Uruguayan capital in a blaze of glory before embarking on a new life in Serie A.
"I'll end the year playing with Nacional Montevideo, because I want to have the possibility to win the title in Uruguay," said Peralta.
"I thank the club that has allowed me to grow. In January I'm sure I'll go to Inter and this is a proposition that enthrals me, because I'll have the possibility to play in one of the world's strongest team."
Other stories circulating suggest the South American will arrive in Italy in January but will be loaned out to another club until June.
In other news, Inter coach Alberto Zaccheroni has injury doubts ahead of the weekend tussle against Reggina.
Turkey star Emre Belozoglu and Danish defender Thomas Helveg both reported back from international duty with knocks that threaten their chances of playing.
Emre suffered an injury to his right knee and will undergo further scans on Friday, while Helveg has a problem with a leg muscular sprain.
