Den Haag trial for Toda

By Jeffrey Glorie
Tottenham Hotspur misfit Kazuyuki Toda is due to have a 10-day trial with Dutch side ADO Den Haag, starting on Monday.

The Japanese international, who made just one appearance for Spurs while on a year's loan from Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse, expressed his desire to remain in Europe last week despite Shimizu wanting him to return to The Far East.

The 25-year-old will hope his trial with the struggling Eredivisie club can hand him an opportunity of regular first team football and a return to Zico's Japanese squad, having seen his international career suffer by a lack of action at White Hart Lane.

The Zuiderpark club will run the rule over Toda in the coming days to see if the tough-tackling midfielder is worth signing when the transfer window re-opens next month.

"The technical staff will judge over the coming days if Toda is a (worthy) reinforcement," said ADO Den Haag president Rob Langenbach.
