Henry lands Onze Mondial award

By Patrick Haond
Thierry Henry has scooped Onze Mondial's annual Onze d'Or prize, awarded for the French magazine's European Player of the Year.

The Arsenal attacker is also a front-runner for the more prestigious Ballon d'Or, awarded by France Football, and Fifa's World Player of the Year prize, so the omens look good after Onze Mondial's results were published this week.

Real Madrid duo Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham managed podium places, while Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was, rather surprisingly, awarded the Coach of the Year prize despite only bringing the FA Cup to Highbury last term.

Pavel Nedved, the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or, trailed in fourth, a couple of places ahead of Manchester United's deadly Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The top ten:
Thierry Henry (Arsenal) 34.25%
Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid) 18.35%
David Beckham (Real Madrid) 13.95%
