Besiktas target Altintop twins
Istanbul giants Besiktas are ready to mount a bid for German-based twins Hamit and Halil Altintop.
Besiktas have been impressed with the duo, who have shone in Die Bundesliga with Schalke and Kaiserslautern respectively.
As the twin brothers were both born in Germany, they would have been eligible to play for Germany, but both chose to represent the country of their parents - Turkey.
"The fact that they play for the Turkish Under-21s and not for Germany shows that their heart belongs to Turkey," stressed Besiktas board member Husnu Cureli.
Cureli is believed to have made contact about the pair during his recent trip to Germany for Besiktas' UEFA Champions League game against Chelsea, which was played in Gelsenkirchen.
However, while it is believed that Kaiserslautern, who only just escaped bankruptcy last season, would be ready to sell striker Halil Altintop - big-spending Schalke are unlikely to sell playmaker Hamit (pictured).
The midfielder has already scored three goals this season and is regarded as one of the future key players of the side by coach Jupp Heynckes.
