Beckham makes a new enemy

David Beckham was mystified over the clash with Deportivo La Coruna's Lionel Scaloni, and admitted that a failure to swap shirts had not helped his minor feud with Aldo Duscher.

Duscher famously broke Beckham's metatarsal bone and put his World Cup in jeopardy, and during the course of the match a fairly innocuous incident saw Scaloni react furiously to the England captain.

"It was just a clash between two players. The referee asked us to shake hands but for some reason he wouldn't. I had no problems with shaking his hand, though," said Beckham.

"I just found out that he's Argentinian. I didn't know that before the game, but that's now another Argentinian that doesn't like me.

"Duscher asked me to swap shirts with him 20 minutes before the end of the game, but I had already promised it to a little boy.

"The referee asked us to shake hands in the tunnel, but he refused. I haven't got his shirt, either."
