Hunt signs new Orient deal

Leyton Orient defender David Hunt has signed a new contract with the East London club until June 2006.

The 21-year-old, who signed for the Division Three club for an undisclosed fee in the summer from Crystal Palace, had a clause in his two-year Orient contract to renegotiate his deal after making 20 appearances for the club.

After reaching that mark in Saturday's away defeat at Kidderminster Harriers, Hunt sat down to agree a new two-and-a-half year deal with caretaker boss Martin Ling and chairman Barry Hearn this week.

"I'm glad we got it out of the way quickly," Hunt told Orient's official website.

"I was happy with what was offered to me and signed pretty much straight away.

"There hasn't ever been any doubt in my mind that I've made the right move by joining Orient and I'm looking forward to being here for a longer period of time now.

"The clause was there to make sure that I adapted well to the division and the club and I think I've done that although personally I feel there's more to come from me, especially in midfield."
