Crewe 2 Wigan 3

Wigan picked up their first away win since September to move into fourth place in Division One with a thrilling 3-2 success at Crewe.

The game started off in tremendous fashion with four goals in the opening twenty minutes.

Lee McCulloch gave Wigan the lead after just eight minutes with his fourth goal of the season.

The lead was short-lived as Crewe youngster Billy Jones levelled matters with a brilliant strike from the edge of the penalty area.

Crewe turned the game on its head by going in front on 17 minutes with Steve Jones latching onto a mistake by Jason De Vos to coolly slot home past John Filan.

Wigan hit back and squared things up at 2-2 as De Vos made up for his earlier mistake by netting from close range.

Dean Ashton and Jones went close to firing Crewe back in front in the second half, but Filan kept out their efforts.

The game looked set to end all-square until Jimmy Bullard popped up ten minutes from time with a brilliant curling effort from 25 yards.
