Atkins casts eye over duo

Oxford United manager Ian Atkins has been running the rule over two new trialists this week.

The U's boss played transfer-listed Leyton Orient midfielder Matthew Brazier and young Coventry City striker Avun Jephcott in a reserve match on Tuesday.

27-year-old Brazier (pictured) has been on the lookout for pastures new since handing in a transfer request to the East London club back in September.

Youngster Jephcott has come through the ranks at Highfield Road and even signed his first professional contract with The Sky Blues back in February.

Both will hope to impress Atkins enough to earn a deal at The Kassam Stadium, with Oxford leading the Division Three table by a single point from Doncaster Rovers.
