Referee to report Lehmann spat

Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann could be in hot water with The FA following his spat with Southampton striker Kevin Phillips.

The German international hit Phillips in the back of the head with the ball seconds after the final whistle of Arsenal's 1-0 win over Southampton on Monday night.

Referee Steve Dunn revealed he will include the incident in his match report which could see Lehmann in trouble.

Although Lehmann is likely to escape a ban he could be handed a hefty fine as The FA try to crack down on misconduct.

"Lehmann came in afterwards to apologise which was nice, but it will not stop me mentioning the incident in my report," said Dunn.

"Once the final whistle has gone, a player cannot be cautioned or sent off.

"An incident would therefore be included in the referee's report, and this will be the case."
