Boro may rival Wanderers' offer
Middlesbrough could be ready to rival Bolton Wanderers for the signature of Ibrahim Ba, according to sources in France.
The Riverside outfit tried to sign the winger back in 1999, and the former French international travelled to Teesside for talks, only for the deal to fall through.
However, it has now been suggested that Steve McClaren could offer the 30-year-old a second chance to move to the North East.
Bolton remain firm favourites to capture the signature of the wide man, who left Milan to join Sam Allardyce's men on a three-month contract.
Ba has done enough to convince Allardyce to offer him a permanent stay at The Reebok Stadium, and discussions over fresh terms will take place soon as the current deal expires in January.
"This is a good club and it's a nice environment to play and train in," stated Ba.
"Bolton have given me a new lease of life and I would like to increase my stay beyond December.
"It is down to the club to offer me something. Personally, I don't want to go anywhere else."
Meanwhile, Youri Djorkaeff is set to receive a one-year extension offer from Bolton in January with talks involving the 35-year-old also planned for the New Year.
