Rivaldo makes Brazil return

By Patricio Figueroa
Rivaldo is set to make a return to football after penning a 12-month contract with Brazilian outfit Cruzeiro.

The former Deportivo La Coruna and Barcelona forward has been without a club after departing early from his contract with Milan.

Rivaldo should fit straight into Cruzeiro's line-up under coach Wanderley Luxemburgo, having worked with the former Brazil manager while the pair were at Palmeiras.

"Rivaldo has signed a one-year contract with Cruzeiro and will be arriving to be presented to the press," said club spokesman Valdir Barbosa.

"In his contract there is a rule that says that he could leave Cruzeiro if he receives a very important offer from Europe."

The Brazilian international is set to be presented by the club at a conference in Belo Horizonte on Thursday, and he is looking forward to playing in the Copa Libertadores.

"I am very happy for the chance that I have been given to play once again for a Brazilian team, because that was my wish," said the former Rossoneri forward.

"I am happy that I will be able to play in the Copa Libertadores and my wish is to have the chance to play in the Intercontinental Cup in Japan at the end of the year."
