Jeffers to return to Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated Francis Jeffers will return to the club at the end of the campaign when his season-long loan spell with Everton ends.

The England-capped striker moved to Highbury for £10 million in June 2001 but, after falling out of favour and losing form, was sent back to Goodison Park this term.

Wenger wanted the hit-man to play first-team football again, and is hoping the 22-year-old will come back to North London with confidence and form.

The French boss did concede that he is unsure whether Jeffers's long-term future lies at the club, or whether he will ultimately will be offloaded.

"I wanted to give Franny the opportunity to play, to go back to his old environment and gain confidence again," explained Wenger.

"I am sure that if he stays without injury he can come back to his best.

"He will certainly come back to us at the end of the season. I cannot say what will happen then, though."
