Hibic ends Atletico stay

Atletico Madrid have annulled the contract of Bosnian defender Mirsad Hibic.

The player and his agent Angel Castillo met with Atletico directors Miguel Angel Gil and Toni Munoz on Wednesday on reached an agreement to end his stay at the Vicente Calderon.

The 30-year-old stopper was under contract with Los Rojiblancos until June 30th, but now looks set to bring the curtain down on his professional career and head back to his homeland with his family.

Hibic came close to leaving the Primera outfit last summer when he was offered to Glasgow Rangers as part of a swap deal for Mikel Arteta, however, the Scottish outfit turned down the chance to sign him.

The former Hadjuk Split star arrived in Madrid during the summer of 2000 after an impressive spell at Sevilla, but he failed to recapture his best form with Atletico and was no more than a bit-part player for the past couple of seasons.
