Hatters trial Raith keeper

Stockport County have handed a trial to goalkeeper Jamie Langfield from Scottish First Division side Raith Rovers.

The former Scottish Under-21 international is currently out of contract after his short-term deal with the Stark's Park club expired earlier this month.

Langfield only joined The Rovers in November after being released by SPL side Dundee and Raith are hoping to extend his stay in Kirkcaldy.

However, the 24-year-old has decided to try his luck down south with manager Sammy McIlroy's side.

"I'm here for a couple of days and I'll see what happens," said Langfield.

"Raith have offered me something and I'll speak with my agent before deciding what I'll do."

Langfield has attracted plenty of interest in recent times, with SPL sides Rangers and Hibernian, as well as English Premiership club Fulham, all having shown interest in the keeper.

Last summer, he had an unsuccessful trial with Stockport's Second Division rivals Barnsley.
