Thornley lined up by Derry
Former Manchester United winger Ben Thornley is being lined up to join Derry City.
The left-sided 28-year-old was part of United's fabled youth team but failed to make the grade at Old Trafford.
Instead, he has carved out a decent, if less illustrious, career with the likes of Huddersfield Town, Aberdeen and Blackpool and, most recently, Bury.
However, Thornley parted company with the Gigg Lane outfit in October and is now set to head for the Eircom League.
Derry boss Gavin Dykes has held talks with the player but wants to put him through his paces in a stringent medical before deciding whether to offer terms.
