Laporta hails 'crack' signing
Davids, 30, will play for Barcelona until the end of the season, when his contract at Juventus expires. Barca will then have an option to make the move permanent.
Barca president Joan Laporta welcomed the arrival of such a high-profile player in a low cost deal.
"He's one of those players who's recognised everywhere in the world," Laporta told reporters at the player's presentation on Monday.
"He's another 'crack' for the club, following the signing of Ronaldinho before the start of the season."
Davids agreed to the short-term transfer during a late-night meeting with Laporta on Sunday and underwent a medical at Camp Nou on Monday.
"He's in good shape," Barcelona doctor Jordi Ardevol told reporters. "There's room for improvement but he's good."
Davids will join a large Dutch clan at Barcelona, who also boast Philip Cocu, Michael Reiziger, Patrick Kluivert, Marc Overmars and Giovanni van Bronckhorst in a squad coached by Frank Rijkaard and his assistant Henk ten Cate.
Rijkaard, who played alongside Davids in the 1995 Ajax European Cup winning side, will hope his new signing can strengthen a team that has been in poor form for much of his debut season.
The arrival of Davids in Barcelona coincided with the side's best performance in some time in Sunday's 3-0 win over Real Zaragoza but that result was still only enough to lift Barcelona to seventh place, 16 points behind leaders Valencia.
