Jol to leave RKC
RKC Waalwijk coach Martin Jol has confirmed he will leave his position at the end of the season.
Jol, who has previously been mooted as a candidate to become Manchester United's assistant manager, has decided the time is right for a change of scenery.
The 47-year-old has been in charge of RKC since October 1998 and is the second-longest serving coach in the Dutch top flight.
Earlier this season, he spurned the chance to take over at ADO Den Haag but will now be weighing up his options regarding his future.
RKC have grudgingly accepted Jol will not extend his contract beyond this campaign, with the boss believing he has made the correct decision.
"RKC have to move on and so do I," commented Jol. "Manager Marcel Brands knows what my plan is."
Jol is not resting on his laurels, though, and is planning for RKC's future by monitoring the performances of Fortuna Sittard midfielder Joos van Barneveld.
The 21-year-old is under contract to Fortuna until 2007 but has produced a number of eye-catching performances this season which have prompted RKC to take note.
It is unclear whether RKC will make a January move for the youngster or wait until the summer before aiming to lure van Barneveld to De Eredivisie.
Meanwhile, RKC goalkeeper Wilco de Vogt has undergone a knee operation following the injury he suffered against Utrecht in November.
De Vogt tore his cruciate ligament in the match and will not play again this season.
