Hannover are confident USA international Clint Mathis will join the AWD-Arena, despite undergoing a trial with English First Division side Sunderland this week.
Hannover are confident USA international Clint Mathis will join the AWD-Arena, despite undergoing a trial with English First Division side Sunderland this week.
The 27-year-old striker made a good impression during his trial with Die Bundesliga outfit and although the Germans were surprised to see him travelling to England, Hannover coach Ralf Rangnick is convinced that Mathis will prefer top-flight football.
"Maybe the trip to Sunderland did him well, because he is now able to compare both clubs," declared Rangnick, who had learned that top-striker Thomas Christiansen will be unavailable for around five weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
Mathis is expected to travel to Turkey later this week, where Rangnick prepares his team for the restart of Die Bundesliga at the end of January.
