Ancona sign Jardel
Serie A Ancona have pulled off one of the transfer coups of January by snapping up Mario Jardel on loan from Premiership Bolton Wanderers - hoping the Brazilian will change the club's fortunes.
Ancona are currently rock bottom of Serie A having accrued just four points from 16 games.
The club's president Ermanno Pieroni had promised sweeping changes, and he has been true to his word plundering three English clubs as he attempts to put out an almost completely different side for the second half of the season.
Jardel will be playing alongside another former Premiership man in Corrado Grabbi, who failed to spark at Blackburn Rovers and has recently returned to Italy.
Derby's Luciano Zavagno has also moved to the club along with Birmingham trialist and Roma player Luigi Sartor.
Jardel arrived in Bolton with great expectations on his shoulders, but quickly found himself criticised for his weight.
The free-scoring Brazilian never truly adjusted to the pace of the English game, and Bolton manager Sam Allardyce made the player available after bringing in Javi Moreno on a loan deal.
Jardel will be keen to prove his critics wrong in his spell in Italy, replicating the kind of scoring form he enjoyed whilst at Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto.
