Lazio reiterate Stam stance
Lazio have reiterated their stance that Dutch defender Jaap Stam will not be sold during the January transfer window.
Internazionale and Juventus and have both been linked with moves for the former Manchester United stopper, however the Biancoceleste have no intentions of cashing in.
The club are wary of their precarious financial situation, however, sacrificing first team players is not on Lazio's agenda.
"Stam won't move," said general director De Mita. "We must consider the club's finances, but we can't disregard the technical aspect and the team's needs."
Meanwhile, De Mita has somewhat contradicted president Ugo Longo's comment that Dejan Stankovic is close joining Internazionale, by stating his job is to keep the Serbian at the club.
"It's an unusual situation. My job is trying to keep the Serbian here until the end of the season," he added.
However, the general director did concede that there is a chance a deal could also be struck during the transfer window.
"His situation is different than other players' one, because his contract is close to expiring and so he could also leave in January," he concluded.
