Siena linked to Swede

Reports from Italy are linking Sienna with a possible move for Sunderland's Joachim Bjorklund.

The veteran central defender, who is out of contract in the summer, is available on a free transfer and this factor could prove tempting for the Serie A outfit.

Despite forcing his way into Mick McCarthy's plans this season, the Swedish stopper would almost certainly be interested in a move to Italy's top-flight.

Sienna have already taken advantage of the Wearsider's squad trimming measures this season, acquiring bean-pole hitman Tore-Andre Flo for a nominal fee.

Club president Paolo De Luca has hinted to the Italian press that a move is in the pipeline for an English-based player and Bjorklund could be an alternative to main target Roque Junior.

Siena are waiting for Milan and Leeds to settle upon a financial agreement regarding the Brazilian, before they offer the World Cup winner a contract.
