Division Three Round-Up
After a first half stalemate, Hull took the lead 12 minutes into the second half through Danny Allsopp (pictured) and Ben Burgess made the game safe with a goal two minutes later.
Essex-based side Southend pulled off a shock victory over Mansfield Town at Field Mill.
Wayne Corden scored from the penalty spot on the quarter-hour mark and Mansfield could find no way past a stubborn Shrimpers defence.
Leyton Orient were also successful on their travels as they beat Yeovil Town 2-1 at Huish Park.
Orient found themselves two up in the opening 45 minutes through Mark Peters and Gary Alexander and although Yeovil pulled a goal back through Nick Crittenden, they could not salvage a point.
Torquay thumped Macclesfield Town 4-1 at Plaimoor.
Torquay did not take long to get going as Kevin Hill gave them an eighth minute lead before David Graham made it two on 33.
Craig Taylor made it three four minutes before the break before Colin Little threw his side a lifeline with a goal on the stroke of half time.
The second half could not repeat the first half goal fest but Matthew Tipton was dismissed for Town for a second bookable offence on 85 minutes and Martin Gritton completed the rout two minutes after.
Bristol Rovers had a Wayne Carlisle penalty to thank for all three points against Carlisle at the Memorial Stadium.
Cambridge and Rochdale played out a 0-0 draw at the Abbey Stadium, as did Bury and Kidderminster at Gigg Lane. York's home game against Huddersfield Town was postponed.
