ADO land Toda
Dutch side ADO Den Haag have finally secured the loan of Japanese midfielder Kazuyuki Toda for the rest of the season from Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse.
The Japanese international midfielder will spend the rest of De Eredivisie season with the Zuiderpark club after Toda recently ended a unsuccessful loan spell at Premiership club Tottenham Hotspur.
ADO tried to land the Far East ace back in December but initial negotiations broke down before they were rekindled last week.
Toda becomes the club's fourth new addition during the January transfer window, with ADO landing Regilio Simons, Tarik Oulda and Alberto Saavedra.
The club's general director Robert Langenbach was very happy with the arrival of the 26-year-old to The Hague.
"In Japan, Toda is a very popular player, especially after his strong performances during the World Cup 2002," said Langenbach.
"Despite that at first, he gave up on the transfer due to private reasons, but Toda has decided to make the move to ADO Den Haag after all.
"We are proud on the fact that an international of his calibre has chosen to play for our club."
ADO are awaiting a work permit for Toda but hope to give the Japanese star a debut at home against Roda JC Kerkrade on January 28, but it is more probable he will start his ADO career at leaders Ajax on February 1.
Meanwhile, Gouden Gids Divisie side FC Dordrecht have kept on-loan midfielder Arjan van der Laan until the end of the season from ADO.
The former Twente Enschede player's contract at Den Haag is due to expire at the season's end, with the veteran having played twelve matches this season for The Hague-based side.
