Rae desires Molineux stay

Wolves midfielder Alex Rae is keen to finish his career at Molineux by signing a new deal with the Black Country club.

The 34-year-old has been in fine form for the Premiership strugglers recently and the Scot is keen to commit the rest of his playing career to the club, whether they stay in The Premiership or return back to Division One.

The club have yet to discuss new deals with those players who will be out of contract until it is certain they know what division they are in next term but Rae is ready to stay.

"It would be nice to think I can finish my career here," said Rae, as Wolves prepare to host Division One side West Ham United on Sunday in the FA Cup fourth round.

"I am fighting for a new contract and that is my main focus. If things are right, I'll carry on here.

"I love playing and it's something I want to do as long as possible.

"If that means being able to finish my career here, then that would be fine by me."

Despite Rae's desire to stay, Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey revealed knowing the club's fate come the season's end was key in deciding who will receive fresh deals.

"We have to know where we are and what the implications for the budget will be," said Moxey.

"But all we are thinking about at the moment is staying in The Premiership."
