Robson backs Cort to come good
The £7 million signing is well down the pecking order at St James' Park and the Newcastle manager agreed to allow the former Wimbledon front-man to leave.
Cort will now discuss a transfer with Wolves boss Dave Jones and any move now depends on the player agreeing terms after the two clubs agreed a fee though to be around £1.5 million.
"I have given him permission to go and I wish him all the luck in the world," Robson said.
"He has never once given me a grain of discomfort. He has been a solid pro every single minute of every day."
Cort has seen his career at Newcastle blighted by injury problems but Robson still has faith in his abilities.
"That boy will come back as a Premiership player and in a way I hope he does because I brought him and put my judgement on the line with him," stated the Magpies chief.
"When he first came here he was great, but after five weeks some journalists started calling him the invisible man which is outlandish journalism.
"That boy has gone through a harrowing time and to get treated like that by people is just shameful."
