Marshall set for Millwall loan

Millwall look set to take goalkeeper Andy Marshall on a month's loan from fellow First Division side Ipswich Town.

The former Norwich City custodian has not made a first-team appearance for Town this season, having spent time on loan at Premiership side Wolves.

Marshall, who has been linked with Sheffield United, Wimbledon and Plymouth Argyle in recent times, is keen to find first-team action away from Portman Road.

Talks have taken place to bring the 28-year-old to The New Den, as The Lions look to have sufficient goalkeeping cover should Millwall number one Tony Warner move on from the South East London club.

Warner has been linked with a move to Wolves, as manager Dave Jones looks to add some keeper cover for Michael Oakes, with Matt Murray currently on the sidelines with injury.

Royle admitted a deal with The Lions is in the works but stressed that it may not necessarily lead to a permanent switch.

"Millwall have been in contact with us, and it looks like Andy (Marshall) will be going on a month's loan," Royle told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"It's not been tied up yet, but we won't be standing in Andy's way. It's a chance for him, and his leaving on loan would help our wage bill.

"Andy's loan move wouldn't necessarily lead to a permanent deal. That would be a long way down the line."
