Hyldgaard set for Hibs exit

Hibernian goalkeeper Morten Hyldgaard is set to join Luton Town after failing to make the breakthrough at Easter Road.

The Danish shot-stopper has failed to make a first-team appearance for Hibs since his summer move from Coventry.

The form of Daniel Andersson has seen Hyldgaard restricted to a substitute role and Hibs boss Bobby Williamson admitted he would not stand in the 26-year-old's way with the offer of first-team football at Luton.

"Daniel has played very well and been very consistent. If he's made a mistake in a match he's bounced back," Williamson told the Edinburgh Evening News.

"That's made it very difficult for Morten to get into the team and opportunities to do so have never materialised because of Daniel's performances.

"We'd have liked to have kept him, but Morten needs first-team football and we don't want to stand in his way.

"He's a good goalkeeper, a good professional and it is a pity we'll never know how good a goalkeeper he could have been for Hibs."

Luton boss Mike Newell is on the lookout for a new keeper having seen Marlon Beresford leave Kenilworth Road for Barnsley earlier this week.
