Tavlaridis out to impress
The 23-year-old Greek defender has failed to cement a regular place at Highbury, which prompted Arsene Wenger to send him out on loan.
Tavlaridis has the utmost respect for Wenger and his Gunners team-mates but feels the time is right for him to be playing regular football.
"I came here because it is a good club and also because Claude Puel said to me that he would give me the chance to show what I can do," Tavlaridis told Maxifoot.
"I will give all I can to this club for the next six months.
"I want to give 100 percent in every game and attain a good finish in the championship."
The thought of representing his country at Euro 2004 is clearly in the forefront of the defender's mind.
A lack of first-team games at Arsenal could have hampered his chances, but an extended run at Lille could prompt coach Otto Rehhagel to hand him a seat on the plane to Portugal.
"I need to have a good season here and after that hopefully I will get spotted by Rehhagel (coach Otto).
"It will be difficult and harder still if the team does not play well. But if I play well and Lille play well then maybe Mr Rehhagel will select me."
Commenting on Arsenal, Tavlaridis added: "I respect him (Arsene Wenger) enormously. He is a hugely intelligent man and has great character. I have never had any problems with him."
Tavlaridis has admitted surprise at how down to earth Arsenal's galaxy of stars are.
"When I arrived at Arsenal they (French players) had won the World Cup and the European Championships and I was surprised because they are big stars but so calm."
