Reed sees Thomas potential
The youngster completed a modest £100,000 move from London rivals Arsenal this week, having appeared in the England Under-20 squad's ill-fated World Youth Championship campaign in the United Arab Emirates late last year.
Thomas also had two spells on loan at Queens Park Rangers before deciding to leave Highbury for a fresh opportunity with The Addicks.
Despite the sale of midfielder Scott Parker to Chelsea last week, Reed believes Alan Curbishley's side have a player of real promise on their books at The Valley.
"Jerome is a very talented player and has really come of age for the Under-20s in the last 12 months," said Reed.
"In a game against Italy, his performance really was first-class.
"His move to Charlton could be where it all comes together for Jerome."
