Angry van der Sar blasts club

Fulham goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has blasted the club for failing to match his own ambitions by selling Louis Saha to Manchester United.

The Dutchman was unhappy that the club finally agreed to sell Saha to United last month and believes it shows the club lack ambition.

"When I was discussing my contract here three years ago they told me all about the future of Fulham football club," said van der Sar.

"They said it would be a big club. They told a beautiful story of the money they had, the big names they wanted to buy, the new stadium they were going to build and how we were going to lift Fulham to the top - even the top in Europe.

"They were just nice words. Nothing has happened and that is very disappointing.

"The worst thing is that they have just sold our top scorer Louis Saha when we are doing really well.

"He was the key to our success- a perfect player for us.

The former Ajax and Juventus custodian laid the blame for Saha's departure at chairman Mohamed Al Fayed.

"I know the manger did everything he could to stop it because he was against it," added van der Sar.

"It was the chairman who took the decision and the manager explained everyone at the club is dependent on the chairman - he is the boss.

Saha was sold to help fund the club's plans to redevelop Craven Cottage, but that reason failed to cut any ice with van der Sar.

"I don't care about the stadium - I care about the team," blasted van der Sar.
